In our club we try to keep a good balance between education and fun.
To name a few of the fun things we have done in the past few years:
1) Hikes The hikes are one of our personal favorite parts of the club! Hiking is such a great stress reliever and great exercise as well. It is also a great time for the club to bond and have some fun together. The hikes are about once every two months, and though not required as a member, we hope everyone can come :) Some of hikes we have done in the past include: a) Windy Hill b) Huddart Park 3) Montebello 4) Badlands
2) Outdoor Cooking a) Made Choco Tacos and s'mores b) Ate surprisingly delicious freeze dried food c) Learned how to use a back-country water pump d) Created home-made trail mix
3) Self Reflection Time a) Journaling and sketching in Gamble Gardens b) Yoga c) Alone time in the outdoors to think and connect with yourself
4) Community Service a) We partner with Acterra to help maintain local trails and parks
This year we hope to lead an overnight backpacking trip, learn wilderness first-aid skills, eat more yummy camping food and continue our partnership with Acterra
